Water Chemist Engineer

JOB SPECIFICATION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily checks on the water quality of incoming RO / Demin water, feed water, Boiler Water and condensate.
  • Process water test for discharge carried out as requested by the site for discharge.
  • SWAS maintenance checks.
  • Manage the WTP (see below).
  • Chemical unloading as required.
  • Order up reagent/ stock as required.
  • Highlight any remedial/corrective actions that need to be addressed and advise GE Power
  • Facilities Team Member on a schedule of close-out dates for such remedial/corrective actions.
  • Liaise with CCR/Ops regarding any tasks/issues they may need throughout the day.
  • Chemical tests
  • Analyse raw water for appropriate parameters.
  • Analyse treated water for appropriate parameters. Analyse water samples obtained from the RO/ Demin water systems.
  • Analyse feed water/ De-aerator water for appropriate parameters.
  • Analyse condensate water for appropriate parameters.
  • Analyze boiler water for appropriate parameters.

Essential:

The successful candidate for the position will have:

  • Minimum three year’s Water Treatment Account Management experience.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to work well as part of a team
  • Experience in Closed Systems Testing & Treatment.
  • Experience in raw water, wastewater, and process treatment, is a plus.
  • Full clean driver’s licence.
  • Must be able to recognise, diagnose and solve common engineering, chemical and mechanical problems related to providing water treatment for steam boilers, cooling towers, and process water systems
  • Have a good level of computer knowledge so that he/she can complete online technical and commercial reports for existing and new customers.
  • Broad experience across various water treatment markets (commercial, healthcare, industrial, and food) would be a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude and ability to think outside the box with a strong work ethic.
  • Full training and ongoing training program for the suitable candidate.
